I have severe seasonal allergies and severe menstrual pains. I am hopeful that this visit may help ease my health problems. Dr. Leung greeted me at the door of her office. Her treatment area was very neat and inviting. Diagrams of acupuncture points and meridians were hung on the wall.
I was asked to fill out a thorough patient health history. http://www.leungacupuncture.com/pdf/New%20Patient%20Intake%20Form.pdf <---This is the link to the form. I gave information on my health complaints, lifestyle, diet, and family's health history. She discussed my complaints and took my pulse. She examined my tongue and felt my hands.
Afterwards, I got comfortable on the treatment bed. She prepared the acupuncture needles and moxibustion equipment.
The treatment was not painful at all. The needles felt like a small pinch. Some areas were a little more sensitive than others. The moxibustion that accompanied the acupuncture wasn't painful either. It was very warm. It didn't burn my skin. There was a thick slice of ginger underneath. Moxibustion works with the ginger to circulate blood near the abdomen. Dr. Leung told me to notify her if it became too hot for the skin. This lasted for 3-5 mintues each.

After the treament, I was given advice on what I should change about my lifestyle. My hands and feet are naturally cold. I was instructed to avoid cold drinks and cold foods (salads, ice cream). I was also prescribed herbal capsules. The ingredients are listed here. --------------->
Dong-quai is warm in nature and helps promote circulation of the blood. It is famous for treating PMS. There is also cinnamon twig. This is warm in nature as well. It helps clear the body channels to promote flow to relieve and prevent pain. Ginseng treats fatigue. Licorice root is sweet in "taste" and anti-inflammatory.
I am instructed to take this 2 times a day, 2 capsules each time, until I run out.

I plan on taking her advice and the medicine. I hope my health improves.
